The catalogue summarizes the exhibition "Three or Two", which took place in the autumn of 2019 in CCA ŁAŹNIA 1 where works of three artists, Jerzy Grzegorski, Igor Omulecki, Arkadiusz Sylwestrowicz, more or less associated with a Lodz community gathered around Galeria Wschodnia were presented.
“Three or Two” was conceived as an exhibition about artistic relationships between creative attitudes, correlations between languages of the two fields of art: painting and photography, their aesthetics and the way they build space or use colour and form.
When putting the exhibition together, collaborators tried to escape thinking in terms of frameworks and act free of any predefined rules. Rather they sought common ground, visual connections and similarities in subject or colouristic expression. The participating artists “released” interpretation of their works and made sure to refrain from spoon-feeding answers. By removing creative intentions, that is not imposing the meaning, they attempted to become viewers of their own works and build meanings anew, as if from the outside. The arrangement of the exhibition emphasized this conversation between the artists and between their compositions.
The catalogue is an attempt to summarize the process of creating the exhibition. The publication includes the texts of Agnieszka Kulazińska (the curator of the exhibition) and Witold Kanicki.
